Marg Helgenberger: Justin Bieber Was a Brat on CSI Set

Back in September, when Justin Bieber made his acting debut on CSI, he appeared to be reinventing himself. The 17-year-old heartthrob was no longer just a nice kid with a high voice and a famous haircut; now he was playing a serious role (a troubled teen with police woes) on a serious network drama.

All these months later, we learn that the whole "nice kid" image might have been, well, a bit overstated. According to Radar, CSI star Marg Helgenberger, 52, told a French radio interviewer that the "Baby" singer was "kind of a brat" while filming his part. While admitting that Bieber was "very nice to me," Helgenberger provided examples to back up her "brat" claim: "He locked one of the producers in a closet," she said. "And he put his fist through a cake that was on the cast's table."

Now, Bieber's Twitter followers know all about his love for pulling pranks. The producer-in-the-closet incident sounds like just that -- a practical joke. But punching a defenseless cake? Even if that was meant to be funny, it's still rude. On the other hand, maybe he was just Method acting, getting himself prepped for the "trouble teen" role?

It's possible, but Biebs isn't exactly a seasoned thespian. "Justin Bieber wasn't bad bad," Helgenberger said when asked about the singer's acting prowess. "But he'd never acted before... He's better than you'd think."

Could it be that producers invited Bieber back for a second episode to get some retrobution for his on-set antics? After all, in that episode, the police -- spoiler alert! -- gunned down his character in a hail of bullets. Could be -- but more than likely, they brought Justin back because he was good for ratings.

Either way, Bieber isn't exactly thrilled with Helgenberger's comments. He took to his Twitter account to defend himself Monday, writing: "It's kinda lame when someone you met briefly and never worked with comments on you. I will continue to wish them luck and be kind."

In another tweet, he wrote: "I know who i am and sometimes people r just going 2 say what they want. Keep ur head up and be the man ur mama raised. #killemwithkindness." He then concluded, "Rumors are just that... rumors. In the end if you just be kind and be yourself people will know who you are."
